The Biggest Apple STEM Challenge

This is such a fun challenge and it takes very few materials.  Kids get to work together in groups and try to make the biggest apple.  We start by reading the book, The Biggest Apple Ever by Steven Kroll.

The kids get a 6 foot sheet of bulletin board paper, tape, scissors, and a tape measure!  These are our apples!  We measured the height and width of each apple and recorded them on a data sheet.

Communicating through Silent Puzzle Building STEM

Kids need to learn different ways of communicating and this STEM challenge is a great way to show them they can communicate without talking!

Buy your copy of this STEM challenge here!

Here are some quick pics from this challenge!  I grabbed the same 6 puzzles from the local Dollar Tree (60 pieces each) of the United States map.  I placed the pieces into plastic baggies and then gave them to each group without the box.

This is a great STEM challenge to use at the beginning of the year!

Pill Bug STEM Challenges

My kids love critters and pill bugs are great ones to use in the classroom!  We did a lab with live pill bugs first so the kids could get to know these little crustaceans and see how they move - both on their legs and rolled up into a ball.  I have a FREE pill bug lab you can grab here!

You can buy this lab by clicking here.

Once we played with the pill bugs, we did the first STEM challenge!

Can you create a model of a pill bug that can roll up into a ball?

Grab your kids' attention with some pill bugs!
