Growing Pumpkin Seeds - Monthly STEM Challenge

We are doing monthly STEM challenges in our school building as a way to have some consistency across classrooms.

For this challenge each classroom got a small foil pan, a bag of potting soil, and a small pumpkin.  All the teachers have to do it cut the top off the pumpkin and fill it with dirt.  Then they just have to water it every few days.

It took our pumpkin about 7 days to begin sprouting.  We have had dirt inside the pumpkin for about 2 weeks now.

So far we have quite a few sprouts!  I am thinking we will have more sprouts soon!  The kids are fascinated with this STEM challenge!

Why not grow some pumpkins in your classroom this fall?
